Your guide will pick you up early in the morning from your accommodation and take you to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in northern Tanzania. This region is renowned for the expansive, volcanic Ngorongoro Crater and is home to the "Big 5": elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, and rhino. You'll see massive herds of wildebeests and zebras roaming the plains, with Maasai livestock grazing alongside the wildlife. Additionally, the Olduvai Gorge, located nearby, contains hominin fossils dating back millions of years. After lunch, you'll embark on a thrilling game drive within the park.

Explore the vibrant farming community of Mto wa Mbu, nestled between Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater. With a local guide, wander through busy streets, visit homes, and learn about the daily lives of the 18,000 residents. Your guide will explain the customs of the diverse ethnic groups that make Mto wa Mbu a true "melting pot", featuring tribes like the Maasai, Chagga, Sukuma, and Iraqw. Experience this rich diversity through local crafts, cuisine, and traditions. The village is also a hub for traditional music and dance, with performances depicting historical events and spiritual rituals. Afterward, you'll be transferred back to Arusha and dropped off at your hotel or the airport.

Questions about this safari

Is this safari private?

Yes. The vehicle and guide are only for your group. Larger groups: ask us.

When can it start, and can we change it?

It can start on any day that suits you, and we can change the lodges, the order of the parks or the number of nights.

Can children come?

Yes, from age 3. Children under 15 pay less, and under 5 travel free.

Can I book it on my own?

Not as a solo traveller: the price is for two or more. Ask us about joining a group safari instead.

Are airport transfers included?

We can arrange them for a small extra cost. Tell us your flight times.

What is the difference between joining and private?

On a joining safari you share the vehicle and guide with other travellers on a set date, which brings the price down. On a budget private safari the vehicle is yours and you choose the date.

Are park fees included?

Yes. Park entrance fees and taxes are included in every price on this page.
