The Kikuletwa Hotsprings (also named Chemka) are one of the most beautiful and refreshing places in Tanzania. Here you can swim in crystal clear, turquoise, warm water. It’s a small oasis in the middle of absolutely nowhere, literally! Simply an amazing experience that’s worth the visit when you’re in Tanzania. From Arusha, the trip will take about 2 hours.

    1. MorningAbout two hours from Arusha: first the main road towards Moshi, with a chance of seeing Kilimanjaro, then an off-road track through bush, dry riverbeds, baobabs and acacias.
    2. At the springsKikuletwa, also called Chemka, is a spring-fed oasis of clear, warm, turquoise water. Swim, use the rope swing or relax on the bank.
    3. Look closerHire snorkelling goggles to look for turtles and catfish. Tiny Garra rufa fish nibble at your feet: a free pedicure.
    4. RelaxOrder a fresh coconut, or ask for a local massage.
    5. AfternoonDrive back to Arusha or Moshi.
