After an early breakfast, you will descend over 600 meters (1,970 feet) into the crater to witness the diverse wildlife thriving within. Nourished by a constant water supply and abundant fodder, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area hosts a wide array of animals, including wildebeest, zebras, buffalos, eland, warthogs, hippos, and majestic African elephants. The park is also renowned for its high concentration of predators, featuring lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the elusive leopards, requiring a keen eye to spot. During the visit, you'll explore Lake Magadi, a substantial yet shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, a key feature of the crater. This area is a haven for a multitude of flamingos, hippos, and various water birds. In the late afternoon, you'll transfer to Arusha for dinner and an overnight stay or opt for an airport drop-off. Accommodation in Arusha can be arranged upon request at an additional cost.

Questions about this safari

Is this a shared or private safari?

Shared: you travel with other guests in a pop-up-roof Land Cruiser, which keeps the price down. Your own party can be up to 7 people. The departure runs once at least 6 travellers have booked. Ask us if you'd prefer it private.

When can it start, and can we change it?

It can start on any day that suits you, but the route itself is fixed.

Can children come?

Yes, from age 4. Children under 13 pay less.

Can I book it on my own?

Yes. Solo travellers are welcome; a single room costs a little more.

Are airport transfers included?

Yes, from and back to the airport.

Is this safari private?

Check the Group label at the top of the page. Private means the vehicle and guide are only for your group. Shared means up to 6–7 guests in the vehicle.

Can we choose the lodges?

Yes. We suggest lodges for the season and your budget and name them in the written itinerary before you pay a deposit.
